Co-Curricular Opportunities

There are a variety of co-curricular activities on offer for students at Our Lady Help of Christians. All students are encouraged to participate in some of the co-curricular programs available. These programs develop students’ confidence, talents and sense of responsibility.

Some of the opportunities that may be available at Our Lady Help of Christians include:

  • Diocesan Sports Gala Days in soccer, cricket, netball, basketball, AFL, rugby league and touch football
  • Opportunities to represent at Diocesan, MacKillop and State levels in a range of sports, including swimming, athletics and cross country
  • Art Competitions – including the Christmas Story Art Competition
  • Public speaking.
  • SPLICED (a Diocesan initiative for gifted and talented students).

The school provides a diversity of sporting opportunities both at a school and representative level.

School Sport
All classes have dedicated sport lessons each week. These lessons involve the teaching of skills in a variety of sports and improving students' fitness levels. The teaching of sport is part of the school’s PD/H/PE curriculum.

Representative Sport
All students in Years 3-6 have the opportunity to participate in diocesan gala days in AFL, Rugby League, Soccer, Netball, Basketball and Cricket.

The school conducts two major annual sport carnivals, Cross Country and Athletics, We also conduct swimming trials for the selection of a swimming team. These events act as trials for school teams to participate in regional and Diocesan carnivals. From here, successful students can trial for selection in Mackillop (NSW Catholic Schools) teams, which can lead to State (PSSA), and ultimately, National teams.

Students talented in a variety of Winter and Summer (team and individual) sports can also trial for selection in Mackillop teams and follow the same selection path as above.
